Physical Education

P.E. develops the whole person by nurturing the mind, body and spirit in a community of learners. Through the development of physical skills in a positive moral and social setting, students develop respect for individual differences and confidence in their talents and abilities.

We teach to five standards that are also part of the Portland Archdiocese Curriclum guidelines. They include a student’s ability to demonstrate:

  • Competency in a variety of motor skills, movement patterns and forms
  • Applied knowledge of concepts, principles and tactics related to movement and performance

  • Participation in physical activity for enjoyment, growth, self-expression and social interaction

  • Ability to analyze, reflect and strive for a healthy level of physical activity and fitness for life.
